What a Bummer

Wham! reunion? It's a no-no.

George Michael has denied claims that he is to perform with Andrew Ridgeley at his final two concerts next month.

Reports suggested that the popstar was planning to reunite with his former Wham! bandmate as one of a "series of surprises" at his retirement shows at Earls Court.

But his spokesperson dismissed the rumors, telling The Mirror: "We don't know anything about it."

Bond Theme

It's a double-O duet.

Alicia Keys and Jack White have recorded the theme song for the new James Bond film, "Quantum of Solace," producers said Wednesday.

The R&B singer and White Stripes frontman have teamed up for "Another Way to Die," the first duet to be chosen as a Bond theme. Producers said White has written and produced the song and also plays drums, as well as singing with 11-time Grammy winner Keys.

Producers Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said they were "delighted and pleased to have two such exciting artists as Jack and Alicia, who were inspired by our film to join together their extraordinary talents in creating a unique sound for 'Quantum of Solace.' "

Previous Bond themes have been performed by the likes of Paul McCartney, Duran Duran and Madonna, and each new film's tune always produces intense speculation.

Kanye TV?

HBO remains hell-bent on finding a way to showcase the talents of Kanye West.

Long before the writers’ strike began last November, the network began discussing whether to team the rapper with executive producer Larry Charles (Curb Your Enthusiasm) for a yet-to-be-named, single-camera series that would follow the busy life of the Grammy-winning artist and his relationship with family and friends. One key insider says HBO is now looking for a writer — and some creative inspiration — before moving forward with the project: “We need to figure out how to capture Kanye in the right way.”

The Last Lecturer Dies

Randy Pausch, the Carnegie Mellon computer-sciences professor who became an Internet sensation for his upbeat and funny "last lecture" while battling terminal pancreatic cancer, died Friday at his Virginia home at the age of 47, USA Today reports.

In the September 2007 lecture, entitled "Achieving Your Childhood Dreams," an upbeat Pausch commented on everything from education and leadership to dating and his love of Star Trek. The speech – part of the "Last Lecture" series in which speakers imagine they're giving their final lecture before dying – proved very popular on YouTube, leading to a best-selling book and Pausch appearing on The Oprah Winfrey Show and being named Person of the Week by ABC News With Charles Gibson. J.J. Abrams, director of the Star Trek reboot, even gave Pausch a speaking cameo in the upcoming movie.

Pausch is survived by his wife, Jai, and their three children, his mother and sister.

If you haven't heard his lecture, click above and watch it. Truly great.

Top Gun 2?

Movie bosses want to bring Top Gun back to the big screen, but only if Tom Cruise says yes according to The Sun.

A script outline has been written, but the sequel depends on Cruise, 46, saying yes.

An insider said: “The idea is Maverick is at the Top Gun school as an instructor — and this time it is he who has to deal with a cocky new female pilot.”

All I have to say is, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" If Tom is that desperate, he should just quit acting altogether. Let's seek solace in some of my fave Top Gun clips:

Cool!

Sir Elton John has been honored in just about every possible way and now he is being immortalized with his own ice cream. Cool treat kings Ben & Jerry have created a new flavor that will commemorate his first ever concert in Vermont.

The Goodbye Yellow Brickle Road flavor is inspired by the Candle in the Wind hitmakerÂ’s first ever concert in Vermont on July 21, 2008.

The flavor is described as an outrageous symphony of decadent chocolate ice cream, peanut butter cookie dough, butter brickle and white chocolate chunks. The limited edition taste treat will be sold from July 18-25th.

Elton John joins Phish, Jerry Garcia and Dave Matthews, who have all had Ben & Jerry flavors named after them.
