Amish in the city

Television is not part of the traditional Amish world. But the Amish are now part of television, like it or not.

"Amish in the City" gives five young adults the chance to explore the big city and discover what life is like outside their Amish communities.

In the first two episodes of the UPN reality series, they hit the beach for sun and fun, visit a mall and cultivate sometimes uneasy relationships with six non-Amish sharing their temporary Hollywood Hills home.

--This could be very comical.

1 Ya know for some reason they don't look like authentic Amish people to me. I think it's the haircuts on the guys, the soul patch and the makeup on the girls. I grew up not too far from Lancaster, PA...Amish Capitol of the world...lol and I don't remember seeing Amish people who looked anything like that.

3 I will want to watch this if I don't forget it with my pea brain these days just because I fond it interesting to believe true Amaish have done this....

4 Gonna have to agree with Kelly on this...I grew up 20 minutes from Arthur, Illinois...it is also a primarily Amish community...I know, for a fact, that none of the Amish teens looked like that...especially that guy in the middle who looks like he has been dippin' into the Rave Hair Gel...I am not being stereotypical when I say that the Amish teens I met when I was in high school only bathed once a week - gosh, the day of this photo shoot must have been that day!!!!!

5 Having made numerous trips to the Amish country in northern Indiana (great furniture!) I have to say these kids look way too perfect! If they are true Amish then the UPN makeup crew really worked OT on them. Dump their clothes and most of them could be on the cover of GQ or People.

6 Who the hell is the Amish Heidi. Makes me want to go back by yon barnyard and get thee some! I thought the Amish cast out their young adults for a period of time to give them a taste of the outside world?

7 OH MY. I don't know if I had Heidi on the brain or what, but I meant to put hottie instead! I guess this means that Heidi now knows I want her!

8 I agree with both Kellys on this too. They are just to perfect to be Amish. I tend to think that in the coming weeks we may find out that they have relatives who know someone who hit and Amish carriage. That's as Amish as they really are.

9 To the kelly's and garybibb; you do realise that they're posing for a tv show so they've obviously had thair make up and hair done for the shoot. Just because they're amish doesn't mean they can't be good looking
