Ben Markets Deoderant

Ben Affleck has signed a deal to be the new face of Lynx deodorant in the UK.

The ads featuring Ben will hit British screens next year reports The Sun. Unilever confirmed that the ads will continue to have a tongue-in-cheek theme.

--I've always thought it was odd how celebs do ads for everything under the sun in Europe, yet rarely do here. If it's viewed as selling out here, it's still selling out if you do it in a foreign country. At least Catherine Zeta Jones has the guts to be open about it.

1 Agreed. It reminds me of Vince on Entourage doing chinese red bull commercials, although he thought initially that doing commercials were below him.

2 Why is it selling out? If someone came to us and said, "We're offering $100,000 (or more) to pose for a billboard or shoot a 30 second commercial," I think we'd all do it in a heartbeat.

3 Gee Ice, slow morning at the office---I think the pont is why treat it differently when it is not seen in the US.

4 I think he wants to keep his face out there, since his movie career is clearly in the tank and not coming back. Self-promotion, baby!

5 I guess I don't treat it differently ...

6 I didn't say that IIIIIIIIII personally thought it was "selling out," but that it's viewed by the press as such. I remember the flack Catherine Zeta received for doing TMobile. I thought it was funny since she was doing what every other star was doing, only she was doing it in the US.

7 "Lynx" deodorant? Makes me think of the smell at the Lynx cage at the zoo.

8 I've always felt B.Fleck's acting ability is barely suitable for a personal hygine commercial. I guess he finally found his level. (sorry, Ben fans. He seems like a nice guy, but I've never been wowed by his acting.)

9 No no, I wasn't saying you were calling him a sell-out ... I was just posing the question to others. I just don't understand (and never have) why it's "selling out" to capitalize on your fame. It's one thing when you're a public-interest worker for 10-15 years and decide to take the mega-bucks job for no other reason than the money .... to me, that is a sell-out.

10 The commercials must not require acting.
