Kiss Fans Protest

About 200 Kiss fans protested Saturday in front of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum to demand that the band be inducted into the hall. Fans, some from as far away as California, carried signs and had painted their faces in black-and-white to resemble Kiss band members.

Those participating in the half-hour demonstration were upset that the band, formed more than 30 years ago, has not been admitted, even though it has been eligible since the late 1990s.

Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first record, according to the museum's website. "Criteria include the influence and significance of the artist's contributions to the development and perpetuation of rock and roll," the site says.

A museum spokesman said it was the first demonstration by fans seeking to have a group inducted. The foundation that selects inductees is based in New York City, not at the museum.

1 Interesting choice of pictures. Two of the four pictured are not original members. On the far left is Eric Carr who replaced Peter Criss on drums in the early 80's. He died in the early 90's of cancer complications. He was well liked by band and fans. Between Gene Simmons (tongue) and Paul Stanley (far right) is Vinnie Vincent who was hired in the early 80's to replace original lead guitarist Ace Frehley. He was fired from the band for "unethical behavior". Rumors abound as to what that exactly means but he's obviously not very well liked by band or fans. Vinnie Vincent is allegedly now broke (both in the wallet and anyone that cares). Like them or not, it is absolutely ridiculous for a band that has sold as many records and has as many fans as Kiss hasn't been inducted in the Hall of Fame.

2 Had no idea about the pic. Can you tell I'm not a huge Kiss follower? Ha.

3 Ha...frankly, I would be concerned if you were. I will admit that I'm a former follower and dressed up for Halloween as Ace (which became my father's nickname for me) in 1979. Facepaint, wood guitar, and, uh, red curly hair...I was a five year old f-in rocker. BTW, after reading my previous post, I want to clarify whom I meant by "He" in paragragh three. Vinnie Vincent was the one fired, not Ace. Ace left the band in 1982...but later reconciled for a reunion in the 90's.
