Cash Is Cashin' In

Johnny Cash's American V: A Hundred Highways earned the #1 spot on Billboard's albums chart with 88,000 copies sold during a slow holiday week at retail — overall sales for the nation's top 200 albums were down by nearly 450,000 units, according to SoundScan.

Had Chris Carrabba waited seven days to release his latest studio offering, Dusk and Summer, he may have finally scored that Billboard-topping debut that's eluded Dashboard Confessional, who opened at #2 on the previous albums chart with 134,000 copies sold — right behind the first-place finisher India.Arie with Testimony: Vol. 1, Life & Relationship.

American V was one of only four new releases to crack the top 200 this week, and one of only two to debut in the chart's top 10.

Um, WTF? It looks like Lohan is on a movie set, but I'm not sure what kind of movie this is. Surely not her next Disney pic. But of course, let's not jump to conclusions...

Paula's a Biter

A cast member on MTV's The Real World was arraigned on a misdemeanor assault charge after police said she bit her boyfriend during a domestic dispute.

Paula Ann Meronek, 25, allegedly bit her boyfriend several times when he refused to let her into their home early Sunday morning, police said.

"I think it was an argument that led to one thing then another," said Cromwell Police Chief Anthony Salvatore. "He attempted to keep her from the house. It got physical and we were contacted." Meronek, who was arraigned Monday, was charged with third-degree assault, which carries a potential penalty of a year in prison. She is due back in court Aug. 11. No lawyer was listed in court documents.

Her boyfriend, John Alyward, was charged with disorderly conduct. The arrest was first reported by The Middletown Press. The Real World, now in its 17th season, puts seven strangers together in an exotic locale — this time in a Key West, Fla., beach house.

--Yes! I've been waiting for a Real World arrest. We haven't had one for awhile. And, who's surprised it's Paula? Um, NOBODY! You knew that relationship w/ her boyfriend was headed for disaster.

Hmmm

The fearless investigative journalists over at TMZ have blown another hole in the case against Suri CruiseÂ’s existence by uncovering some discrepancies between the birth certificate of Suri and the birth certificate of Brooke ShieldsÂ’ daughter, who happened to be born the same day.

Supposedly the same registered nurse signed both documents, but neither of which bears her official license number, thereby casting doubt on their authenticity.

On the Suri Cruise certificate, Heffernan's license number is G48079. On the Grier Henchy certificate, Heffernan's license number is different -- G068399. TMZ checked with the California Board of Registered Nursing and we were told Heffernan's license number didn't match either of the birth certificates. A Board rep told TMZ Hefferman's license number is 317058.

And it gets more interesting. The Board of Registered Nursing told TMZ the license number on Grier's certificate comes back to a Dorothy Rork. The license number on Suri's birth certificate is a mystery. There is no name attached to that license number.

Felicity's Next Gig

Keri Russell may have been a tomboy growing up, and TV audiences know her as a college coed on the TV series "Felicity." But now she's gone glam as a CoverGirl.

The 30-year-old actress joins Christie Brinkley and Queen Latifah as a spokesmodel for the venerable beauty brand. The new TV ad for Outlast Double Lipshine debuts this month, and the print ad will be in August magazines. Being a makeup model isn't what Russell expected in her career. This is only the second commercial she has starred in, other than promotions for her various movie and television roles.

"When I first started, I did do a commercial for a deodorant or something. I don't even think it aired. This is the first thing I've done like this. It's a lot less stressful than doing a film. This takes two days, not a few months or the whole year of a television show," she told The Associated Press recently.

But the CoverGirl shoot wasn't just about looking pretty. Russell describes the TV ad more as a mini action movie, in which she fights a group of ninjas. Looking pretty, of course. Thanks to her role in "Mission: Impossible III," Russell says, she probably knew more about the stunts than applying makeup.

Brinkley, a CoverGirl for 30 years, is in some ways her role model in the beauty world, Russell says. "Fresh and natural - it's what she is, too. ... I'm not really the sexy vixen type." She'd rather be in jeans and sneakers than the stream of designer evening gowns she wears on the red carpet. "When I find a dress I really like, I say, `Can't I wear this dress again? It's really pretty.' I guess it doesn't work like that. I'm learning."

Dunzo

Christie Brinkley and her fourth husband, architect Peter Cook, are going their separate ways after 10 years of marriage, the CoverGirl model's rep revealed Tuesday.

"Yes, it's true. The couple has separated," publicist Elliot Mintz says in a statement, according to the Associated Press. Brinkley and Cook, 47, who live in New York's tony Hamptons region, have a daughter, Sailor, 8.

Brinkley, 52, was previously married to artist Jean-François Allaux (1973-81), singer Billy Joel (1985-94) and developer Richard Taubman (1994-95).

She and Joel have a 20-year-old daughter, Alexa, and she and Taubman have an 11-year-old son, Jack, whom Cook adopted after he and Brinkley wed in 1996. "(Christie's) immediate concern is for her children, and she's hoping during this obviously difficult time that people will be kind enough to respect her privacy," Mintz said.

She's a Maneater

Sienna Miller has a new trend - she's hot for her leading men.

While she was filming "Factory Girl" last month, she was rumored to be hooking up with "Factory" leading man, Hayden Christensen. And now this month she's filming a new movie, so you know what that means ... new man!

Sources say that Miller is on to her next leading man, James Franco. The two are currently filming "Camille," a movie about two honeymooners' road trip to Niagara Falls. The pair were spotted this weekend in Toronto getting cozy after-hours.

During filming Friday afternoon, the leading pair had to roll around the hay kissing as Franco's shirt was off. Once the set wrapped, sources say the couple took the on-set frolicking off-set, well into the evening. The two took in a concert and were seen canoodling and dancing in the streets together. Around midnight, Miller and Franco got some Chinese food, enjoyed a cigarette together and hit the nightclubs.

The romance continued Saturday when the two were spotted taking in a matinee of "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest." Franco was seen in the movie caressing Miller's face. After the movie, the pair hit a bookstore called Indigo.

Chan's Drunk Antics

An apparently intoxicated Jackie Chan disrupted a concert by Taiwanese singer-songwriter Jonathan Lee in Hong Kong and exchanged insults with the audience, a news report said Tuesday.

Ming Pao Daily News said Chan suddenly jumped on stage at the concert Monday night and demanded a duet with Lee. He then tried to conduct the band but stopped and restarted the music several times, Ming Pao said.

As the awkward interruption dragged on, audience members started to heckle Chan and the actor replied with an insult, according to the report. The newspaper quoted Chan as saying on stage that he was drunk.

She Dreams About Pitt

Her new album arrives Aug. 29. And as part of her publicity push, newly divorced Jessica Simpson set the record (partially) straight with OK! magazine — but questions about her ex-husband, Nick Lachey, were off-limits.

Simpson, who turned 26 on Monday, says she and her Employee of the Month co-star Dane Cook are just friends and nothing more. "Every time I'm frustrated, I'll e-mail him, and he'll e-mail back with a suggestion or an idea. He's a great support, a solid friend and a really good guy," says Simpson, who has been named co-host of Teen Choice 2006, airing 8 p.m. ET/PT Aug. 20 on Fox.

And despite tabloid reports about her personal life, she has had "no dates," she says. As for her ideal eye candy? "Brad Pitt in Fight Club; you can't get much better than that. I still dream about his body!"

Wedding Bells

TV personality Jillian Barberie married her actor boyfriend, Grant Reynolds, over the weekend, she announced on Good Day L.A. Monday.

"He's just the love of my life. I'm so in love with this man!" she said live on the air. Of the intimate ceremony, Barberie, 39, said, "We decided to do something very small. We did it in my backyard."

Barberie, who does the weather on Good Day L.A., surprised cohost Steve Edwards with the announcement. "Here is a toast to you and Grant and a lifetime of happiness," Edwards said.

Barberie is perhaps best known as one of FOX's NFL pre-game hosts. She also had a recurring role on Pamela Anderson's syndicated series V.I.P. and hosted the syndicated EXTreme Dating. Most recently, she and champion figure skater John Zimmerman were runners-up on FOX's Skating with Celebrities.

Shiloh To Meet Gramps?

Actor Jon Voight is still hoping to reconcile with daughter Angelina Jolie – and to see Jolie's own new daughter, 6-week-old Shiloh Nouvel.

Speaking at Monday night's Los Angeles premiere of You, Me and Dupree, Voight, 67, said he saw the photos of Jolie, Brad Pitt and Shiloh that ran in the magazine recently.

"I never saw Angie's face more happy," he said. "Deep, deep peace that never has been there before until this. Beautiful, beautiful look. Both Brad and Angie looked so happy." He added, "I haven't seen Shiloh yet. I'm looking forward to it."

Referring to Jolie, Voight said, "And no, we haven't spoken. Â… I don't, I didn't have any communication with her." In interviews, Jolie, 31, has said she was upset by the way Voight cheated during his marriage to her mother, French actress Marcheline Bertrand, now 54. The couple split when Jolie was a toddler.

After attempts at reconciliation, Jolie and Voight have been estranged for two years. "I don't hate him," she told the Philadelphia Daily News in November. "I simply feel we only have so much energy in this life."

Tucker Max

Someone alerted me to this site, TuckerMax.com. Tucker shares his stories of drunk nights and dumb women with the world. Let me share with you the intro:

"My name is Tucker Max, and I am an asshole.

I get excessively drunk at inappropriate times, disregard social norms, indulge every whim, ignore the consequences of my actions, mock idiots and posers, sleep with more women than is safe or reasonable, and just generally act like a raging dickhead.

But, I do contribute to humanity in one very important way. I share my adventures with the world."

Maybe This Time?

Natalie Portman will do "the full Monty" and appear totally naked in her new film, "Goya's Ghosts," a biopic on Spanish painter Francisco Goya.

Portman will play the artist's muse, who is accused of atheism and then stripped in a torture scene. Portman, 24, was shot naked in "Closer," but begged director Mike Nichols to edit it, and ended up dancing in a thong. Portman denied at the time that she was doffing her duds to shed her childlike Princess Amidala persona from "Star Wars." "I don't do it in order to prove something," she said. "I just go on with my life and do what feels right."

Huh?

The people over at Ken Lay is Alive and Well don’t believe for a second that the former Enron CEO “died” from a “heart attack” “last week.” Nope, not for a second. That’s why everybody has to head over to their site and study up on what Ken may look like now with a new hairstyle or what he might look like after undergoing some serious plastic surgery. It’s not pretty, but dammit, it’s necessary.

"We here at Americans for Equal Justice feel strongly that the possibility exists that Mr. Lay, like Hitler, Elvis, and Tupac before him, has faked his own death in order to avoid any more unwanted public scrutiny. If this is true, then it is our responsibility as good Americans to bring this criminal to justice by reporting his whereabouts to the proper authorities."

--What is wrong w/ these people? You really need to check out the site.

Brilliant

Mickey Rourke once had an unusual way of dealing with his anger - he cut off his finger. The actor was taken to the hospital and had to endure an eight-hour surgery to save his finger. Rourke is no stranger to violence -- he trained as a boxer in his youth and took a five-year break from his acting career to take the sport up professionally.

The eccentric star says, "I cut my little finger off because I thought I didn't want it. I was angry about something so I decided I didn't need the end of the little finger on my left hand. I didn't cut it off completely - it was still hanging on a tendon - and an English friend, Gary, carefully carried the end of it as we went to hospital to try to rectify the situation. It took the surgeon eight hours to sew it back on. I still can't bend it properly."

Dylan Musical A Go

The answer's no longer blowin' in the wind - the Bob Dylan musical is landing on Broadway this fall.

"The Times They Are A-Changin' " - conceived, directed and choreographed by Twyla Tharp, the dynamo behind the Billy Joel musical "Movin' Out" - starts previews Sept. 25, reports The Post's Barbara Hoffman.

As The Post scooped in February, "The Times" received middling reviews in San Diego. Presumably, Tharp is tweaking it for Broadway, just as she did "Movin' Out." Tweaked or not, "The Times" already has one big fan in its favor: Dylan, who called it "the best presentation of my songs I have ever seen or heard on any stage."
