Bacall's Bark
God, I love her:
Lauren Bacall has a few unkind words to say about Tom Cruise. In an interview in the Aug. 8 issue of Time magazine, now on newsstands, the 80-year-old actress says, "When you talk about a great actor, you're not talking about Tom Cruise."
"His whole behavior is so shocking," she says. "It's inappropriate and vulgar and absolutely unacceptable to use your private life to sell anything commercially, but I think it's kind of a sickness."
Bacall was alluding to Cruise's displays of emotion and public courting of Katie Holmes in the weeks leading up to the release of his new film, "War of the Worlds." Cruise and Holmes became engaged in June after he proposed at the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
--I love that she has no problem calling him out for being a total joke. However, I have to say that I do think he was "great" in a couple of his movies.

Eh, I think she's continuing her slide into Norma Desmond territory. Not that I totally disagree with her, but it's sad to see.

Lauren, I am truly "glee-fful" to just imagine you could actually read my words to you,
and so I think you are totally wonderful, and praise be that you remain here now! I am so grateful to still have my mom at age 81 as well... very grateful indeed , and so you are also greatly admired by me and mine.. but I am happy to know your comments included both the extremes of your reactive feelings about "T"...
How does the song go?..Ah yes,
"After all "...He's just a man!"...
and added to that, we (men) all are only a fraction of our possible value without being augmented by the grace of some equally or possibly even more "great" female.
Or,
"We are nothing without you" and I freely admit that... and, maybe "T" would as well,
anyway, again I appreciate such thorough complete honesty!
best

Personally, I like Tom Cruise but think he's acting a bit too nutty these days. I still like his movies. Risky Business was as much a staple to my growing up as The Breakfast Club.
And I still think Born On The Fourth of July was his best acting.
But seriously, Tom, dial it down.
