Couric To Move To CBS?

Rumor as it that CBS is to announce that Katie Couric will take over as anchor of "CBS Evening News" any day now.

The Los Angeles Times reports, "CBS News President Sean McManus has been doggedly courting Couric to switch networks" and take Dan Rather's old slot. Her $13-million-a-year contract with NBC doesn't expire until May. Sources also say "Good Morning America" co-host Charlie Gibson will get the anchor chair of the late Peter Jennings at ABC's "World News Tonight."

1 Egads, that would be a mistake. Anybody ever see her do an interview? She's positively awful. Matt Lauer is better, but I still have trouble these days taking either of them seriously, given the fluff they do on morning TV.

2 Without a producer shouting into an earpiece she is the most useless interviewer on the planet. With all the decent talent CBS does have you think they could promote from in house.

3 I haven't been able to watch her since she flirted rather obviously with Clint Eastwood. It was very uncomfortable to watch. She kept referring to herself as "Naughty Katie" (shivers)
