He's BAAAACK!!!

Readers hungry for a good thriller can get ready to welcome an old friend: A new Hannibal Lecter novel, "Behind the Mask," is coming next fall.

"Thomas Harris is the premier novelist of psychological suspense of our time," said Irwyn Applebaum, president and publisher of the Bantam Dell Publishing Group, which announced the book's release Thursday.

"Millions of readers in 25 languages have wondered how Dr. Lecter developed his particular appetite for evil. This novel will satisfy their curiosity."

--Oh hell yeah. I'm so excited!

2 Hannibal is a great character. I must admit, though, I was disappointed in the movie, "Hannibal." It just didn't seem to capture the essence of "Silence" the way "Red Dragon" did. I've been telling myself I should rent "Manhunter" some night for kicks to see how it compares to the re-make. As much as I think Bryan Cox is a good actor, I don't think he could capture Hannibal the way Anthony Hopkins did.

4 I was really disappointed in both the film and novel of Hannibal. Especially the novel ending. Be interesting to see what Harris does with it.

5 Hannibal the film, I rate as one of the biggest disapointments of all time. However the novel was brilliant. Had the film taken a bit more time to explore vital characters it left out it may have just been acceptable. But the biggest mistake made by it's makers was refusing to pay the fee commanded by Jodie Foster. They had to pay Hopkins whatever he wanted yes. They should have done the same for Foster, as noone could show the same controlled fear of Lecter that she did. No offence to Moore. Foster is an impossible act to follow. They could have got Meryl Streep but when I'm reading about Clarice Starling I see Foster's face, as with Hopkins with Lecter. Harris' latest work is a dangerous move because freaks like myself will be looking for inconsistancies with what he's already written. I thought we had enough insite into why Lecter is the way he is in Hannibal. However I will buy the new book and when they inevidbly make the movie I will go see it. Good luck to Harris and well done. Just don't let the makers of Hannibal antwhere near the film.
