Immature Graduates
Arnold Schwarzenegger's return to his alma mater turned into an exercise in perseverance when virtually his every word was accompanied by catcalls, howls and piercing whistles from the crowd.
Schwarzenegger's face appeared to redden during his 15-minute commencement address Tuesday to 600 graduates at Santa Monica College, but he ignored the shouting as he recalled his days as a student and, later, his work as a bodybuilder and actor.
"Always go all out and overcome your fears," he told the graduates. "Work, work, work. Study, study, study."
--Poor form by the attendees. It wasn't the time or place for that. I didn't agree politically with my graduation speaker when I graduated from college, nor did I agree with his subtle jabs at prominent folks in my party. Did I boo or catcall? Um, no, because that would have been inappropriate. Have a little class.
--AND, don't even get me started on the professors holding signs in the picture above.

From what I read -- and I could be wrong -- the graduates weren't the ones booing and heckling, in large part. I thought it was people in the audience.

Wow. Somebody's coming in loud, ignorant and stupid. I remember when Bill Clinton faced vehement protests throughout his entire presidency. Did you call out the GOP/Conservatives for causing "embarrassing" scenes?
Funny how it's okay when those who are anti-Democrat protest and it's okay.
Far be it from me to defend protests against Ah-nold. But far be it from me to decry it as well. It's always fascinating to me how people who profess to love the first amendment get so subjectively riled when people exercise it.
I guess we all can't be as enlightened and well-behaved as those who are so in love with villification of the word 'liberal'. It's almost cute how you do that.

Ok, slick...name one liberal speaker who has been attacked with a pie... Why is it when libs are rude and sophomoric they are always 'exercising' their 1st Amendment rights?

I don't believe I ever once defended the pie-in-the-eye nonsense. But to just cast out "liberals" and say it like it's an epithet -- and to cite that as your smoking gun....well, it's clear you just like to pick on those to the left of you and are subjective in the evidence you will use. It's a very old, tired tactic.
I guess we all can't be as difinified as those who shoot "abortion doctors" or host Dixie Chick CD burning parties.
Make no mistake: I don't consider those acts to be fundamentals of conservative thought. But were I to employ your practice of lumping, I could say all conservatives are just as bad, based upon my "facts."
Unlike you, I'm not so narrow in my thinking.
It's a big, wide world out there. I'd rather chat with reasonable folks instead of spending time arguing with dullards who prefer polarity to compromise and minconstrue partisan bleating as discourse and have no interest in understanding those who think differently.
