1 A celebs political views don't really bother me. I don't care if they're Dems or Republicans. I'm not going to run out and support their cause or boycott as a result of such knowledge. People need to relax, indeed.

2 LOL. It is pretty sad when this list is the best that Republicans can come up. Oh, let's not forget Bo Derek, and of course Pat Boone. BTW, have you seen the list of performers for the Republican Convention? Talk about has-beens and never-weres.

3 Haha! I saw the list yesterday. Country and Christian. Is anyone surprised? The funny thing is, there really are some current stars that are GOP's, they just aren't quite as "out there" as some of the Dem celebs.

4 Couldn't they book Bruce Willis and his band? I think that people need to grow up about their political parties. So what? I mean the fact that Hollywood is mostly Liberal is a negative. But so what?

5 I have a difficult time mustering any enthusiasm concerning the "politics of the stars." Whether they want to be vocal or not, right or left... I just don't see how it ought to concern me.

7 I have a little sympathy for celebs. I really do. After all, they're citizens like you and me and are certainly entitled to speak out if they so choose. I don't mind if Tim Robbins is on a talk show, or if Dennis Miller rants about issues. No, I don't look to celebs as my main sociopolitical compass, but I also don't look to my friends and acquaintences for that and I still like to hear what they have to say, even if I don't agree with them (hence my love of blog pages). I *do* draw the line, however, when they use inappropriate platforms (sporting events, awards shows, etc.) to speak to their causes. Hey, attend a rally like the rest of us, you chucklehead! But don't screw up my enjoyment of a TV show just because you're too full of yourself to know when to shut up. There's a time and a place for everything. I think that's all we ask of celebs, really.

9 I think I remember hearing that Lynyrd Skynyrd was going to perform for the Republicans. Certainly some name recognition there...

10 Chad, while there is certainly name recognition with Lynyrd Skynyrd, the fact that they haven't had a hit for decades puts them firmly in the has-been camp. At least the Democrats try to get somewhat current acts.

Actors are doing more than merely speaking words that others wrote. After all, any comic will tell you that the payoff is not in the joke itself, but in the delivery.
