has prompted California lawmakers to introduce a bill requiring parents to face their infants' car seats towards the back of the vehicle if they are under one year old. Spears started another car seat controversy earlier this week when she was photographed with her eight-month-old son, Sean Preston, slumped over in a forward-facing car seat.
According to California motor-vehicle code, babies who weigh 20 pounds or who are less than one year old should have their car seats facing backward. Spears' representatives insist that she did nothing wrong, since her son weighs over 20 pounds.
Lawmakers hope the new legislation will clear up any confusion over the code by having any child under one year old facing backwards, regardless of weight. If passed, the new legislation would be called Britney's Law, in honor of the pop star.

I have to say that the media is seriously going overboard with the whole "Britney is a bad mom" thing. How many mothers and fathers out there drive around with the car seats either hooked up wrong or facing the wrong way or have the child in there wrong?? There are commercials from fire stations addressing this issue so it's not JUST Britney doing this. And how many parents have dropped their kid(s) before?? It happens to all parents, and you feel awful but thankfully we don't have the media there catching it all on film for the world to judge us. Parents make mistakes and she is a young parent with alot of focus on how bad she is... also, WHY is the media not dogging K-Fed on his absence in the parental role for his son and baby on the way?? Instead of jumping on Britney for the mistakes (common by the way) she has made, I'd like to hear why the daddy can't seem to offer any assistance at all. Just my opinion.

Okay, I toally agree that the media should bash Kevin as well as Britney, and while I agree that the media has blown this up, many parents have their children incorrectly secured in their cars and parents do drop their children, it's a horribly innaccurate statement to say that "all" parents do that. ALl parents who are bad parents and endanger their children's health/safety/general well-being deserve to have their gross incompetence plastered for the whole world to see. Luckily, Britnet and Kevin suck and are famous so we can put them on display and (hopefully) alert and educate the other bad parents and/or expectant paretns as to what they should and shouldn't do with their children. Finally, Brit and Kevin haven't given us an example of being good parents, they've only given us the opposite. If you didn't like this kind of coverage (from not taking proper care of your child to making fun of a celeb's outfit) you wouldn't read this blog.

OK -- the girl has a firm grip on that baby the entire time. And she's probably in 100% better shape than most new moms out there and can actually lunge forward to catch a baby with a strong grip. After the lap riding incident, Britney strapped the baby up - just a brief quiz - how many of you travelled with your babies in forward-facing seats or were placed in them as an infant? Just checking. So Britney's not a lawyer -- anyone surprised? Who knows EVERY baby restraint (or other) law in their county/city/state? Britney tried, give her some credit. That baby's a lot safer than the 2 year olds I see bopping around in the back of vehicles around here.

It doesn't take a lawyer or Mom of the Year to figure out that the carseat faces backwards - I'd be willing to put money on the fact that the directions in the box to the car seat stated the same. Further, last time I checked high heels and long pants are not conducive to carring your chubby baby around NYC. I don't feel sorry for her - I have yet to see other celeb moms making such fools out of themselves. She's trash and is showing her true colors.

The story I heard reported all weekend is that she tripped while walking. Her clothing may or may not have contributed to the stumble, but does it really matter? Sometimes people stumble. It isn't negligence. I've started to feel sympathetic toward her. What I wonder is where is her family? Wasn't she always close to her mom? It doesn't seem like she has anyone helping her out or standing up for her. It's kind of sad.

Did anyone see her after the stumble? The poor girl was crying her eyes out. The a-hole photographers couldn't resist filiming that either. I think this is disgusting. It is stressful to be a new mom without the whole world watching every move you make. Who are we to judge? She is a new mom and people make mistakes. Maybe if she didn't have to concentrate on being the butt of every joke she could focus on being a mother.

She may have been crying her eyes out and she IS under more scrutiny than 99% of other mothers, but look at another new mom-- Jen with Violet-INTENTIONALLY keeps out of the spotlight and when she is in the spotlight with the baby, nothing stupid happens. Sure she's older, but a new mom is a new mom. In addition, Brit managed to keep a tight grasp on her drink in the other hand; I baby sit a lot and have had babies lurch around in a similar manner to how SP looks in the photos and it's instinct to drop what's inmy other hand and grab the kid tighter. Finally, if you don't do stupid things, the cameras can't capture it.
