Owen Wants An Oscar

Hollywood star Owen Wilson is desperate to win an Oscar, insisting it would make him the "happiest person in the world".

The Wedding Crashers actor admits the coveted award is his driving force, unlike many celebrities who maintain the accolade is not important to their careers.

He enthuses, "I'd be the happiest person in the world. Even as I'm saying it, I can see how happy I'd be." "And I still believe it. Even as I'm telling you and realising this stuff doesn't make you happy, as I'm getting lost in it, it's becoming this grotesque conceit." "It's like that carrot, it just keeps you going."

1 I get the distinct feeling that this quote was taken way out of context. I recently read an interview in one of the world's finest publications in which he said that he does not need any awards or recognitions to validate his career. My guess is that the reporter who took this interview did not catch his sarcastic intonation.

2 I'm assuming he was being a smart ass.

3 If he does actually want an oscar, I'm going to guess movies like "Zoolander" are not going go get him one!
