Sean "P. Diddy" Combs plans to celebrate his 35th birthday Thursday with an A-list, ultra-exclusive, all-night party.

P. Diddy's party, dubbed a "Royal Birthday Ball," is billed as "his biggest, most lavish soiree to date." Among those expected to attend the event at downtown's Cipriani's restaurant were Mariah Carey, Vivica A. Fox, Spike Lee, Sarah Jessica Parker, Chris Rock and Stevie Wonder.

But Combs says the real celebration will begin when he's finally able to sleep.

"I wanna be able to lay down," the rap mogul/actor/fashion designer told The Associated Press Wednesday.

"In this one year, I've run a marathon, I did Broadway, signed on for a movie to do Carlito's Way: The Beginning, won men's designer of the year, opened up a store on Fifth Avenue, got the youth vote out — and now it's my birthday," Combs said.

"It's been a great year but it's been hard work. I'm gonna lay down for a week, watch TV, eat a turkey sandwich ... (and) watch old reruns of Good Times. "

UPDATE: And in more Diddy news: Music mogul P Diddy is making a bid to be the first black James Bond. The rapper, who also runs his own record label and clothing range, modestly believes he is perfect for the 007 role.

The man formerly known as Puff Daddy said: 'The world is ready for a black James Bond.' Producers behind the James Bond franchise are said to be undecided who will step into the role vacated by Pierce Brosnan.

1 It never ceases to amaze me how a man of marginal talent can achieve "mogul" status. The only time I actually liked anything Sean Combs did was in Monster's Ball. I've never found him to be much of a rapper. That's why he and Jennifer Lopez belonged together. Neither one has much talent, yes has achieved immense fame for reasons beyond me.

2 I guess it depends on the talent to which you are referring. He may be a 'marginal talent' rapper, but his business sense has proven to be quite savvy. Why is he famous? Dunno. Why is he successful? Because he has made smart business and career choices. It's like saying Trump shouldn't be famous 'cause he can't sing.

3 Yeah, but Trump has never once tried to pass himself off as anything else other than an entrepreneur. I'm just saying that when Sean Combs was out there as a rapper, he sucked. Sucked, sucked, sucked. I don't hate the guy, in fact I was impressed that he ran the NY Marathon for charity. I just don't understand how celebrity gets attached to people like him or Paris Hilton. Ditto for Jennifer Lopez. I get tired of all these celebs who are individual media conglomerates. Memo to Combs: The world is ready for a black James Bond like its ready for a white John Shaft.

6 Wardrobe malfunctions everywhere this year. At least this was was a true accident, though it's a good example as why you shouldn't be too skinny to fit in your own dress.
