Brad Pitt, who entered the hospital Monday night with what was described as a "flu-like illness," was discharged from L.A.'s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Wednesday afternoon after being diagnosed with a mild case of viral meningitis, his publicist announced.

"The actor is at home and doing well," publicist Cindy Guagenti says in a statement.

Viral meningitis – generally regarded as serious but rarely fatal in persons with normal immune systems – involves inflammation of the tissues covering the brain and spinal cord. Most patients recover from viral meningitis in a week, with severe illness and death uncommon, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

The London Mirror reports that the sultry actress frequents the lingerie and toy store and has been spied flipping through books on sexual positions and playing with feather ticklers and blindfolds.
