Quit Whining, Ben

Ben Affleck insisted on making an appearance in Kevin Smith's upcoming Clerk's sequel after the cult director pointed out the movie would be the first he'd made in a decade that didn't feature the actor.

Affleck, who has appeared in most of Smith's quirky comedies, insisted on a walk-on part on the film and upgraded his role to a speaking part once he was on the set of "Clerks II."

Smith says, "He said, 'OK, I want to be involved, but I don't want to do any dialogue. I just want to be like a background person.' Then he was like, 'I feel like I should say something...' so I gave him a line."

1 Oh how the mighty (joke) have so quickly fallen ... ... it was just yesterday that he was on every magazine and talked about at every water cooler during his J-Lo romance.

2 Ben Affleck seems like a nice guy, but he strikes me as a so-so actor. Jason Lee acted circles around him in Chasing Amy.
