Samuel L. Says "No Way"

Samuel L. Jackson puts the smackdown on 50 Cent:

Hollywood actor Samuel L Jackson has turned down a role in Irish director Jim Sheridan's new flick because 50 Cent was already in the cast.

Sam, 56, is so precious he won't work with "unproved" actors - even though he has no qualms about starring in TV ads.

He said: "Hollywood people think because one is successful in one aspect of entertainment, they can bring them into this particular world and make a success out of them. These people think they are worthy of you sharing time on screen with them. I don't particularly think that. Maybe if 50 Cent does five movies and shows me some talent..."

1 I remember Samuel L. Jackson making similar statements a few years ago when DMX was starting to get movie roles. He was mad about musicians with no acting training getting roles that should go to actors who worked on the craft. Normally, I'd probably think that's an arrogant statement, but I've read enough about SLJ to know he prepares like a big dog for his roles.

4 See, I don't think SLJ's being arrogant. Well, at least I think he's earned the right to say what he said. He's a guy who takes acting pretty seriously and it clearly bothers him when unproven people get big roles. I think that's why he refuses to work with 50 Cent. Either that or he just doesn't want to catch a stray bullet. :-)

6 I think he just meant all these crossovers from the music industry or those like Paris Hilton who can just pick up a phone and tell their agent to put them in a movie.

7 Well... I have 2 feelings on this... 1. "What a SNOB!!! Who does he think he is?! He's good but.... NOT THAT good... sheesh!" I like Samuel don't get me wrong... but this kinda attitude stinks! 2. Can't blame him either... I really do believe 50 Cents has to prove himself as an actor... Eh! I dunno... there is no good side or bad side to this story...
