Alec Baldwin with his girlfriend, Nicole Seidel, met 4 1/2 years ago in a little downtown restaurant.

Seidel, a lawyer specializing corporate bond financing, was working on a legal brief. Baldwin was talking show business with another man - loudly. "She wondered why he was so loud, and she was getting annoyed," a friend told The Post. "He came over and said, 'Am I bothering you?' And she said 'Yes!' "

He appreciated her brutal honesty and obtained her number. There were many lengthy phone conversations before the Chinese/German beauty agreed to go on a date. But the two hit it off, and have been on-again, off-again ever since.

Unlike Baldwin, friends say, the publicity-shy New Jersey native is not a vegetarian, not an animal-rights activist, and not a diehard Democrat. "She loves Rudy Giuliani," said one pal. "They don't speak about politics." She lives downtown. He lives uptown. But they seem to have something in common.
