There was an old lady who gave birth to a shoe

Grammy-winning singer Erykah Badu gave birth to a daughter, Puma, earlier this month at her home in Dallas, with friends and family present, People magazine reported Thursday.

The baby was born on July 5, Badu's publicist confirmed to the magazine. Badu, 33, has declined to name the father. "She is a big baby," Badu's representative was quoted as saying.

Puma joins brother, Seven, 6, whose father is Andre Benjamin (Andre 3000 of the hip-hop group OutKast).

1 Once again, I reiterate what I said after Gywneth Paltrow named her kid Apple: whatever, you flakes! Why not name a kid Pepper Shaker? Or Phone? Or Cards? Puma? Oi vey. I never much liked her anyway, so this only reinforces that.

2 I'm with Kevin on this one. Way to be a flake. It's truly amazing these kids don't climb watchtowers and thin out the air. Of course, Justin Hayward's Daughter's name is Doremi (as in Fa so la ti do) Celeste. What goes through their minds when they name their kids?

7 Actually in a interview Justin confirmed that "Doreme" is his daughters nickname inspired by a character on "Are You Being Served", a show he and Marie watched one night before their child was born. Doreme's Christened name was Marianne Celeste. Just thought you'd want to know. MSN moody groups has more info and the interview.
