"Today" Changes it Up

In a bid to boost sagging ratings, the "Today" show is about to admit it made a mistake — sort of.

Several years ago, the show was lengthened from two hours to three. The extra hour has been a "nightmare," an insider said, but it will soon end. "Katie Couric, Matt Lauer, Ann Curry and Al Roker will continue to do the first two hours, but NBC will most likely have an entire different cast of characters for the third hour. They are even hiring a separate producer for the third hour."

"It will be like a different show to keep up with 'Live! With Regis and Kelly' and other shows, but will still be called 'Today.' This way Matt and Katie can have a break."

1 Why don't they cancel the 3rd hour, shift the entire show back one hour so I can have more local morning news about things that might be relevant to me? Nah, that'll never happen.
