TRL Cancelled

Total Request Live has been canceled after ten years, MTV confirmed on Monday.

"We want to close this era of TRL in a big celebratory way, and 10 is a great number," Dave Sirulnick, executive producer of TRL told the Associated Press. "This feels like the right time and let's celebrate it and let's reward it."

He added "Let's let it have a little bit of a rest for a minute. Been working hard for 10 years!"

The music video show will wrap in a two-hour special on a Saturday in November.

TRL first debuted in September 1998.

The show peaked in 1999 with 757,000 viewers tuning in daily, according to Nielsen Media Research, the AP reported.

For the finale, expect to see TRL favorites including former VJ Carson Daly.

"Folks who helped make TRL what is, whether that's Justin, and his guys in N' Sync, the Backstreet Boys, Britney, Eminem - I think we would love to see all of them here," Sirulnick told the AP.

"I'm going to miss TRL," rapper Eminem said in a statement. "Where else will I be able to start feuds, defend my honor vigorously and act like an angry teenager on national TV? Oh wait ... The VMAs!"

1 ... because MTV wanted to officially put an end to any playing of videos on its network. This was the last hold-out.

2 they wanted to put an end to playing music??? and i suppose they will be changing the name "MTV" to something else? im outraged. not that the producers are tired of working for 10 years,(as if any buisness just ends that way, lol assholes think we're retarted.) but that mtv has gone from soul and spirit and freedom of individuality to reality nightmares of anyone and everyone beautiful who isnt the least bit deformed in the tinyest way. and this is coming from a good looking girl, or so they tell me. anyway, this is discusting, our society is going to turn into one big fucking episode of the hill, you know why? cause anyone uglier or more pathetic than that wil have no choice but to kill them selves for just not being able to pull it off. Then we can all repopulate the planet with georgous sheeple robots who have never seen a music video. no longer can we choose genres and be great the way we are. but now we are given the choice to watch or be an outkast. good job MTV, or should i say RTV, that stands for robot television or retarted television, take your pick, im out. fuck everyone that works for mtv NOW. anyone fired because you were too smart for the fucking job, im sure your better off.

3 I LOVED TRL when growing up! i couldn't wait for new videos to play. It's too bad they are going down and reality shows are such a big thing because they are SO pointless and rediculous. Why watch other people live their lives and you aren't. It was fun with Real World and Road Rules and a couple of other but now that's ALL they air on tv now. so long TRL you'll be missed
