We Are the Future

plan to record an update to the 1985 benefit song "
We Are the World" has been postponed by organizers, who say that raising funds for the victims of the tsunami disaster in south Asia takes precedence for now.
Veteran hit music producer Quincy Jones and performer/producer Jermaine Dupri had planned to record a new version of the song – titled "We Are the Future" – on Feb. 14, a day after the upcoming Grammy Awards.
--I'm sorry, but "We Are the Future" just doesn't have the same ring. Also, do you think the problem stems from the lack of talent there is out there to have sing the song? I remember looking at that video and being in awe of the talent they had singing. Wouldn't quite be the same with Ashlee Simpson, Hillary Duff, and Eminem, now would it?

Maybe I'm just gettin' old, but I have to agree with you, Lawren. I no longer know who's out there. I guess Springsteen, Dylan, Lionel Richie and Dan Akroyd could still do it.

Yeap,.. I think if they do it, they should pick singers like: Elton John, Whitney Houston, Madonna, etc.

I wouldn't want Elton John AND hip-hop artists in the same room. Given one's penchant for bitching at fellow celbs and the other's longing to be "hard" thugs, it would create a security nightmare.
Actually, on second thought, I might wanna see how that plays out. :-)

Might I point out that the Michael Jackson-penned lyric, "We are the world/we are the children," is a bit creepier today than it was in 1985?
