"We're Not Alone"

Hollywood actor Tom Cruise not only battles creatures from outer space in his latest film "War of the Worlds," he also believes aliens exist, he told a German newspaper on Wednesday.

Asked in an interview with the tabloid daily Bild if he believed in aliens, Cruise said: "Yes, of course. Are you really so arrogant as to believe we are alone in this universe?

"Millions of stars, and we're supposed to be the only living creatures? No, there are many things out there, we just don't know," Cruise, 42, said in the interview published in German.

--Wow. He's freaking looney tunes. Spielberg needs to chat with him. I mean, I wanted to believe ET was real, too. I even had a shirt w/ ET on it and the little headband w/ the ET stars that sprung up from it. But, I did enter reality at some point. Wait a sec, does anyone else think Katie's starting to look like ET? Hmmm...

1 While I do think tom has been wacko lately, I have to agree that there is a good possibility that we are not alone in the universe. Billions of stars and solar systems - I'm sure there is life out there somewhere. It may not be intelligent, and it may not look like anything we think of as life (even ET), but it is probably out there.

4 All scientologists believe in aliens. They believe that we all have aliens attached to our bodies, actually. They call them "thetan"s. So yes, he's crazy. But no more crazy than any other scientologist.

5 I'd have to agree with the first poster. Yeah, Cruise is a major nutjob but I think we can't possibly be alone. We're just too small a dot on the universal radar. Of course, if he's talking about aliens in the sense that Ruby is talking about, I am totally not feeling it.

6 I've been saying for years that there is just no way that we can be the only life forms in the entire universe. It just doesn't seem possible with everything that's out there .... but I guess that makes me psycho like tom.

7 Ok, I can agree with the "we're not alone" prospect. I guess I'm not sure I'd be so bold as to say, "Yes, of course," though.

8 I'm not one to start a debate over theology or anything, but his response is not unlike a Christian (passive or devout) who believes there is a God in Heaven. I do think he and Scientology are a bit nutty, though. Like I said, I'm not trying to start any sort of argument and I don't mean to offend anyone's beliefs.

9 With 400 billion stars in our own galaxy and an estimated 100 billion galaxies in the universe we aren't the only planet with life on it. Not with odds like that. The real question is how far over is our next neighbor.

10 It is certainly possible that there is other life in the universe - some pretty bright people are looking pretty hard on that one. However, a guy like Tom Cruise should never ever not once in a lifetime just don't do it say things like that. It just makes him look like more of a wingnut.

11 I think everyone is missing the point here. It's not if other life exsists- it's just another example of how far off the deep end tom has gone... He believes in aliens because he is an alien!

12 I'm supposed to have an alien attached to my body?? Well, where the hell is she/he and why isn't she/he helping me?? Jeez, what I couldn't do with someone around all the time to help! "It" would be mowing the grass, running errands, cleaning house..all kinds of things!!
